When Beth first contacted DEED’s Veteran Employment Program, the former Navy Medical Corpsman was employed as a registered nurse, but it was not the ideal job for her.  It just wasn’t the right fit, she said, as she was unable to spend the amount of time with her patients that she thought they deserved and she felt pressure to generate numbers.

She came in to talk to Dave Wold, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist at CareerForce Brooklyn Park.  They discussed how she could explain to prospective employers why she was looking for another position. Beth and Dave also worked to update her resume.  Within a week of posting her new resume online, she had received an interview and an immediate offer for employment.

She loves her new job! She is a private duty nurse with a non-profit agency and is able to spend the quality time she needs to with her patients.

When she was having employment issues, her first thought was to contact CareerForce for guidance.  “Especially since we know there are dedicated Veterans Staff there to help us,” Beth said.
