Teens 16 or older can work in long term care or hospital settings as a nursing assistant (with certification), dietary aide and other positions. Teens 18 or older may also be able to work in group home or home care settings.

Working in a home-, community- or facility-based care setting is a great way for teens – and others – to explore if they want to pursue a health care or social services career.

Working in some of these Caring Career positions may help a person earn credits toward a high school diploma  – all while getting paid. Talk with a teacher or guidance counselor about options

In addition, working in some of these Caring Career positions can help people accrue patient contact hours, which are very helpful to those considering nursing, medical or other health care education after high school.
