Events for People Looking for Employment in Manufacturing

Oct. 26 - Manufacturing Month Tours in Little Falls, Open to the Public. Explore the manufacturing industry with two public tours. Locations and times: 10 am - 12 pm at Wabash, 700 Paul Larson Memorial Dr., Little Falls; and 12:45pm - 2pm at Lakeshirts, 609 13th Ave NE, Unit #LF22, Little Falls.

Oct. 27 - Manufacturing Breakfast to honor manufacturers in Roseau, Kittson, and Lake of the Woods counties. Michelle Grimm of Marvin Windows and Doors will deliver the keynote address at this event.  The Northwest Minnesota Manufacturers’ Association will award savings bonds to 4 high school students selected as winners of their sponsored 500-word essay contest on What Manufacturing Means to Me. Those winners will read their winning essay and will be presented their savings bond at this event.  Event is sponsored by CareerForce, NW Private Industry Council, and NW MN Manufacturers’ Association. Oct. 27 - On-site Employer of the Day Event 10am to noon at CareerForce in Chaska, 602 East 4th Street, Chaska. This is an opportunity to meet with local manufacturing employers and learn more about their company and job openings. The first few job seekers to meet with employers will each receive a $10 Target gift card. Employers attending include Curtiss Wright and Wigen. Please call 952-361-1711 for more information. 

Oct. 27 - Cool Jobs Tour 4-7:30 pm at manufacturers in the Elk River area - open to all community members, middle and high school students and their guardians. Today’s manufacturing is about advanced technologies, state-of-the-art facilities, and fast-paced, interesting work environments. But most of all, manufacturing is about seeing the end product and knowing you contributed. Tour local manufacturers and see the variety of career opportunities available at local companies (wages, job skills, responsibilities), learn about the pathways to building the knowledge and skills needed to qualify for today’s manufacturing jobs and witness the purpose and value of the modern manufacturing companies located in the Elk River area. Manufacturers include Elk River Machine Company, CDI Curbs, TimRon Precision Gear, Inc. and wrap up at Metal Craft Machine & Engineering, Inc for a tour, light meal and a presentation on on careers in and training for Manufacturing. Nov 17 - CTE Jamboree from 7:30am-11am at St. Michael Albertville High School, Albertville sponsored by the Central Minnesota Manufacturers Association (CMMA) School board members, superintendents, principals, counselors, CTE Teachers, manufacturers, and community leaders are invited to this event to hear about  thriving CTE initiatives in our state. The format will allow local manufacturers and educators to interact and vision programs to expand on the CTE focus that is taking place in education right now. Tours will also be available. Oct. 18 - Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP) Grant Overview 10am-11am - virtual event - The Minnesota Job Skills Partnership offers grants through a variety of programs to offset training-related expenses incurred by business, industry, and educational institutions to meet current and future workforce needs. Join us for an overview of the grant opportunities available through these programs. This event will be recorded and will be made available for viewing after the event to those who registered. Oct. 26 - Introduction to Apprenticeship 10am-11am - virtual Attend this event hosted by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) to learn about registered apprenticeship and the benefits of growing and sustaining an innovative workforce. Register now.

Oct. 11 - On-site Teen Career Exploration Event Focused on Manufacturing 4:15-6pm at the Woodbury Central Park Amphitheater Washington County CareerForce is partnering with the Washington County Libraries to offer Teen Career Conversations. October is Manufacturing Month and also TeenTober for the library. So our first of the series will focus on occupations in Manufacturing. Join our panel of professionals in the manufacturing industry for a moderated discussion exploring their educational and professional journeys that brought them to the manufacturing field. The second half of the event will be an open Q&A session so attendees can ask the panel more questions. Learn more.

Oct. 12 - Employment-Based Training for Manufacturers: An Introduction to Registered Apprenticeship, Minnesota Dual-Training Pipeline and Youth Skills Training 9am-10am - virtual event - The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) is hosting this overview of employment-based training programs of registered apprenticeship, Minnesota Dual-Training Pipeline and Youth Skills Training. DLI representatives will share how combining on-the-job training with related instruction can help attract and recruit talent in manufacturing. Attendees will learn how to help meet their workforce needs through registered apprenticeship and Minnesota Dual-Training Pipeline as well as how to create excellent opportunities for career exposure and career pathways for 16 and 17 year old high school students interested in manufacturing through Youth Skills Training.
