Information Technology

This industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in providing expertise in the field of information technologies through computer hardware, software and communication; management of computer systems and data processing facilities; software publishing; Internet publishing;  the motion picture and sound recording industries; the broadcasting industries; the telecommunications industries; Web search portals, data processing industries, and the information services industries.

  • Information Technology represents 3.8% of all jobs in Minnesota. 
  • This industry is projected to grow 10.5% between 2018 and 2028, adding ore than 5,000 jobs yearly.
  • The median hourly wage for Information Technology occupations was $42.71 an hour in 2020 – that's over $20 an hour higher than the median for all occupations in the state.
