  • Job Clubs Online: If you are looking for work, you will want to participate in one of these webinar workshops to help you learn how to be successful in your job search in today's economy, get advice, and develop new strategies. Here are upcoming topics: 
    • October 20, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM(Please register now so you receive the link to join on time.) Identifying your Skills, Job Applications and Work Portfolios - Can you list the top 5 skills you can market to a potential employer? If your list doesn’t come to you easily, don’t worry. This session will help you identify what you have to offer, beyond job titles and employment dates.  We will also discuss Applications and what to put in a Portfolio (hint: it’s not just for artists!) This is the second week in a 6 part series that covers the essentials of the Creative Job Search (CJS) workshop.
  • Resume Writing Workshop October 21, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM(Please register now so you receive the link to join on time.) Craft a resume that will get you noticed. Learn best practices for creating a resume that meets the specific requirements of a position, find out what type of resume may be best for you and identify common mistakes to avoid.
  • Building a Resume in MS Word 2 – Online October 22, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM(Please register now so you receive the link to join on time.) This is the second of three workshops dealing with how to effectively format a resume in MS Word.  Some of the topics covered will be Custom Bullets, Default and Custom Tabs and working with the Table format.
  • New Leaf Online: (Coming Soon.) This workshop provides tailored information for job seekers who have a criminal record and are looking for work. It will help justice involved individuals who are having a difficult time obtaining employment due to their criminal record.

 

NEW CareerForce Virtual Career Fairs

CareerForce regularly holds Virtual Career Fairs to help connect people who need work with employers hiring now. Participation requires internet access and the ability to stream video and audio. These are Microsoft Teams events. Registration is required. Please register NOW or at least 30 minutes before the event begins, so the coordinator can send you a link to join.

  • Virtual Career Fair. Monday, October 19, 10:30 am - 11:30 am. Please register NOW.  This online event is an opportunity to meet representatives from Aerotek/COVID Test Lab, Integrity Staffing Solutions/Amazon, Rockler, and Stitch Fix to learn more about their companies and job openings. Registered participants will receive information on how to connect to the Virtual Career Fair prior to the beginning of the event.
  • Virtual Career Fair. Monday, October 26, 10:30 am - 11:30 am. Please register NOW.  This online event is an opportunity to meet representatives from Hennepin County businesses who are hiring to learn more about their companies and job openings, in collaboration with Hennepin County Library's PowerUp Job & Career Week. Registered participants will receive information on how to connect to the Virtual Career Fair prior to the beginning of the event.
